A very old and field used carved wooden helmet or cap style mask in classic form, with a well handled surface and remains of mineral pigments. According to literature included with the mask, this is the OLDEST KNOWN EXAMPLE of the type currently in private hands. The mask is stated to date from the mid 19th century.*Exhibited and Published at the Baltimore Museum of Art 1971-1974*Exhibited and Published at the Art Museum of the Palm Beaches 1975The mask measures 21 inches tall and 13 inches wide, or 30 inches tall on professional custom display stand which is included.
