Description
Magnificent 18th century Tibetan sword radiates the opulent spirit of Himalayan warrior culture. Its broad single edged blade, forged of robust carbon steel displays a deep gray patina of honest age, with vivid hammer marks, faint surface oxidation, terminating in a sharp acute point. The blade remains straight, attesting to masterful smithing. The hilt and scabbard fittings showcase exceptional silver craftsmanship, featuring repousse and chased panels of swirling floral arabesques interspersed with raised turquoise cabochons (two missing, one survived). The vivid blue green hues contrast beautifully against the tarnished silver, while the pommel assumes a classic quatrefoil form adorned with central gilded motifs and intricate filigree. The scabbard, of patinated metal, overlaid with segmented silver bands, retains its suspension ring, though mellowed by time and missing some of the panels. A rare and survivor, whose luminous mounts and weathered steel embody the enduring mystique of Tibetan edged weaponry for the discerning collector. Full Length 20.5 Inches Blade Length 13.5 Inches. Full length inches, blade length inches.
