A carved wooden ceremonial mask accented with kaolin clay and red paint pigments around the unusual square projecting eyes and face, embellished with animal hide mustache and stylized flared triangular cheeks, painted black. A Form that suggests it was carved among the Kran ethnic group within the Dan complex of tribes. The mask measures 9 x 5.5 inches , and 14.5 inches tall on a custom display stand which is included. Dan / Kran peoples, Ivory Coast, West Africa. Provenance: A Private New York collection.
