Part of its popularity comes from its "CC" mintmark. The Carson City Mint was only open for a short amount of time and saw limited production. There are three key dates for Carson City Morgan Dollars: 1879, 1889, and 1893. Of those three, the 1889 and 1879 (in this order) are the rarest.
