Description
Rarely is this coin offered in such incredible condition. In the PCGS census, the highest graded 1893-CC $1 is MS-66. In that condition, you can expect to pay well over $200,000 in an auction setting. While the MS-63 offered here provides a slightly cheaper price-point, we still expect this example to bring strong bids. What makes this coin so popular? Part of its popularity comes from its "CC" mintmark. The Carson City Mint was only open for a short amount of time and saw limited production. There are three key dates for Carson City Morgan Dollars: 1879, 1889, and 1893. Of those three, the 1889 and 1879 (in this order) are the rarest. But, the 1893 faced many production issues resulting in heavy bag-marks on uncirculated examples. To find a clean and pleasing example like this is difficult. MANUFACTURER: United States Mint. DESIGNER/SIGNOR: George T. Morgan. MINTAGE: 677000. EDGE: Reeded.
