EDMUND J. DAVIS (1827-1883) Union general, served as the 14th Governor of Texas during the Reconstruction Era, and is notable for his support of African-American civil and legal rights. Partly-printed D.S. as Governor, 1p. sm. folio, Austin, Dec. 23, 1873. A land grant of 454,025 acres in Marion County to John French. Blind-embossed state seal at bottom left and in very good condition.
