Antique Shreve Crump & Low Co. Wooden Bracket Clock
Late 19th to Early 20th Cent.,American
This Edwardian-period, Regency-style bracket clock features a high-quality mahogany case with intricate satinwood marquetry. The inlays depict Neoclassical mythological figures, floral swags, and urns with fine penwork detailing. The ornate gilt-brass dial is designed with a silvered chapter ring, Arabic numerals, and elaborate scrolled engraving, marked 'Shreve, Crump & Low Co. Boston.' It houses a German three-train brass movement that chimes the quarters on a large coiled gong, while the sides feature pierced wooden fretwork panels backed with silk for acoustic resonance. This piece retains a label and bill of sale from Arlex Jewelry & Clocks.
