A full-size taxidermy Alaska brown bear (Ursus arctos horribilis) rug, featuring a full thick hide with an open mouth, paws, and claws. Alaska is home to over 98 percent of the United States' brown bear population, with an estimated 30,000 individuals roaming the state. They are characteristically solitary animals and consume a diet ranging from berries and grasses to fish and moose. The pelt is mounted upon two layers of light and dark brown felt, and further backed in brown/gray fabric; some fur loss was noticed at time of cataloging, as photographed. A hanging loop is affixed an verso, and the entire rug measures approximately 93" x 93" x 10" thick. Alaska Department of Fish & Game Permit #26-013-O, expires 09/04/2026.
