Description
In the world of early gold coinage, no two names mean more to collectors than Charlotte and Dahlonega. Here we present an extremely desirable and high-grade 1858-C $2.50 Liberty gold coin. This piece is graded MS-62. In fact, the grade on this coin is so rare that there are only 7 coins with higher grades: 2 in MS-62+, 3 in MS-63, and 2 in MS-63+. The 1858-C is the most common Charlotte quarter eagle, but that does not mean that it comes at a cheap price. Most of these coins are found in EF to AU condition, and rarely do they enter the UNC grade range. Most known examples of this coin are weakly struck on the obverse and reverse, but the present example displays a full strike throughout. This coin is truly a gem and our sale gives you a rare opportunity to own a coin that hasn't come to the auction market since 2022. MANUFACTURER: United States Mint. DESIGNER/SIGNOR: Christian Gobrecht. MINTAGE: 9056. EDGE: Reeded.
