German Black Forest style Victorian, an antique carved wood hinged desk caddy or cigar box modeled in the form of a stylized boxer dog or pug head. The sculpture features bulging glass eyes, deeply carved jowls, realistic teeth, and expressive facial detailing throughout, demonstrating the characteristic craftsmanship associated with Black Forest carving. The hinged head lifts to reveal a cylindrical metal lined interior, intended for use as a cigar box or desk caddy. The dark stained wood enhances the depth of the carved features. No apparent maker's marks. Provenance South American collection.

Condition: Good to fair overall antique condition with typical surface wear and patina. Visible age-related cracks are present beneath the dogs mouth, along the chin, and extending across the back of the neck. Some darkening to the finish, and the interior metal liner shows oxidation.
