KPM 19C. Blue Ground Topographical Porcelain Urns

Description

Konigliche Porzellan Manufaktur KPM Berlin, a pair of second half 19th century blue ground topographical porcelain urns with covers, each decorated with finely hand painted cartouches depicting Berlin and Potsdam landmarks including the Altes Museum, Schloss Charlottenburg, Schauspielhaus, Neue Palais, Kronprinzenpalais, Stadtschloss, and Altes Palais, all set against a deep cobalt blue ground with elaborate neoclassical gilt relief decoration. The urns feature acanthus and intertwined snake form handles, fluted socle bases with circular pedestals, and domed gadrooned lids surmounted by pinecone finials, exemplifying the refined craftsmanship associated with KPM Berlin. Marked with underglaze blue sceptre marks, iron red orb over KPM marks, impressed letters, and interior labels. Provenance South American collection.

Dimensions: 17 X 10 X 7 in.
