
Description
Edward Timothy Hurley (American, 1869-1950) for Rookwood Pottery, Cincinnati, Ohio. Art nouveau ceramic vase with Gorham sterling silver overlay, model no. 909B, 1901. Earthenware with glossy "Standard" glaze. Of baluster form with recessed neck, depicting blooming daylilies throughout. The silver overlay delicately etched and molded to the contours of the floral stems. The vase with maker's mark, date, model number, and incised "E.J.H." initials to the underside. The silver overlay marked "JXW," with lion passant facing right, pictorial anchor mark, and stylized Gorham "G" along the footrim.

Condition
There are no major losses. There is a large repaired crack along the length of the vase, visible along the interior, and some areas along the shoulder that fluoresce under UV light, near a minute area of flaking to the glaze. Crazing to the glaze throughout. Light wear to the footrim.
