
Description
Louis Sullivan (American, 1856-1924). Glazed terracotta Prairie School architectural or frieze fragment, late 19th to early 20th century. Of rectangular form with geometric motifs in relief. Similar in style to the variously patterned bricks employed by Sullivan and Dankmar Adler (German, 1844-1900) in the design of the iconic Auditorium Theater located in Chicago, Illinois, as well as several additional iconic buildings designed by the partnership throughout the Midwest.

Condition
Due to the nature of the object it is difficult to discern whether it has been compromised. However, there is wear consistent with age and use as a building material, including several losses. Dust and debris gathered throughout.
